I was born to two teenage parents who were married just three months earlier. They were divorced within a year. I lived with my mother and had very little contact with my father in the early years of my life. My mother was seventeen when I was born and as a high school dropout she did whatever she could to make ends meet.

My memories of childhood are filled with poverty, alcoholism, and drugs. As I matured these very things not only surround me, but entered my life. I had no contact with a church and never heard the Gospel of Christ.
By the time I entered junior high my life was a mess; I was without direction or hope. Living only for the moment, I was already involved with drugs and alcohol. Suddenly a dramatic event happened and I was given glimpses into the reality of my life. I remember that at that moment, for the first time, I felt as though my life was wrong. There was emptiness; I knew something was missing.

During the next few months the feeling of void continued to overwhelm me. One day a friend asked if I would come to a youth activity at the church. I went despite a lack of interest in church. The speaker that evening spoke of Christ in a way that I had never heard. I began questioning the Bible and its history. I began studying the Gospels and looking at reference material as to the historicity of its claims. I was surprised to learn that the Bible was historically accurate and that Jesus was a real man.

On September 24th, 1996 I went again to the Bible study and was struck when the speaker quoted Luke 11:27-28, “As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out. She shouted, ‘Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.’ He replied, ‘Instead, blessed are those who hear God’s word and obey it.’” At that moment God changed my heart toward Him and His Word. I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior that night, and began to be discipled. I was truly changed, never again feeling the need to be dependent upon anything other than Jesus.

I also immediately began to share my faith with friends and family. As I grew stronger in my faith God began giving me opportunities to teach and share Christ with others. The leadership of my church saw this and encouraged me to go into the ministry. I began to pray about it and soon my desires to do anything else diminished. The Lord sent more opportunities for me to serve and teach. I joyfully accepted those opportunities.

God lead me to The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for theological and pastoral training. While studying for ministry I was able to serve in local churches, be a part of foreign mission work, as well as missions work within the United States. I was taught by some of the finest instructors in the world and my Christian life and theology grew immensely. I continually grew and was affirmed in my calling to pastoral ministry. While there I met and married my wonderful wife and we began our family.  Seven years later we have 4 wonderful children and are being blessed with twins on the way!

I have now been in the ministry of the Gospel for ten years, during this time I have Served in Kansas, Alaska, Kentucky, China, Michigan, and Nevada. We have seen times of blessing as well as challenges, but through it all God has shown His faithfulness over and over again. My desire is to exalt God in worshiping and glorifying Him, equip disciples to do God's will in their lives, and to engage the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

God’s power and grace is the theme of my life. He took a young boy who was headed toward destruction and transformed him into a man equipped for His service. For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever!
